Privacy Policy

Field Programmer · Effective August 22, 2026

This policy explains how Field Programmer handles information when you use the Android application.

Overview

Field Programmer is a radio programming utility developed by Trey Spooner. Core radio programming functions do not require a Field Programmer account. Radio configurations, channel plans, imported files, and app preferences are primarily processed and stored on your device.

Information stored on your device

The app may store radio profiles, channel and settings data, connection preferences, imported CSV content, saved exports, and application preferences locally. This information remains on the device unless you choose to export, share, back up, or otherwise transmit it.

Advertising and third-party services

Field Programmer may use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display advertising. Google and its partners may collect or receive device identifiers, IP address, general location inferred from network information, ad interactions, app interactions, diagnostics, and related information to provide, measure, secure, and personalize ads where permitted. Google processes this information under its own privacy policies and controls.

You may be offered privacy or consent controls based on your location. Android and Google account settings may also provide options related to advertising personalization and resetting or deleting an advertising identifier.

Optional online features

If you use an online repeater-directory, authorization, update, or similar network feature, the app sends the information needed to complete that request to the selected service. This may include search criteria, approximate or user-entered location, service authorization tokens, device network information, and the requested radio data. Those services process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

Bluetooth, USB, and device permissions

Depending on your Android version and chosen connection method, the app may request Nearby Devices/Bluetooth, USB, location, file, notification, or related permissions. These permissions are used to discover and communicate with supported radios, import or export files, and provide features you choose. On older Android versions, the operating system may require location permission for Bluetooth discovery even when the app does not need precise location for radio programming.

Diagnostics and support

The app may create diagnostic logs containing connection events, radio model information, protocol messages, error details, and app/device environment details needed to troubleshoot a problem. Diagnostic reports are shared with the developer only when you deliberately submit or send them. Before sharing a report, review it for channel names, frequencies, identifiers, or other information you consider sensitive.

Information the developer does not sell

The developer does not sell your radio configurations or personal information. The developer does not receive your locally stored channel plans merely because you use the app. Information may be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the service, or to vendors that process information on behalf of the app as described in this policy.

Data retention and deletion

Local information remains until you delete it in the app, clear the app's storage, remove exported files, or uninstall the app. Information processed by Google or another third-party service is retained according to that provider's policies. Support messages and voluntarily submitted diagnostic reports may be retained as reasonably necessary to answer the request, improve reliability, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.

Security

Reasonable measures are used to protect information handled by the app, but no device, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your Android device updated and review exported radio files before sharing them.

Children's privacy

Field Programmer is a technical utility intended for radio operators and is not directed to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.
